Description: The Adventures of Piper 5-Book Series by Mariah Leal is a children’s book series that follows Piper, a Bullmastiff, through the important experiences of her first year of life. Told from Piper’s point of view, the stories introduce young readers to puppy training, socialization, good manners, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of building a positive relationship between children and dogs. Piper’s experiences also connect with lessons children can understand, including respect, kindness, dealing with bullying, and learning appropriate behavior. The series was created from Leal’s experiences working with dogs and her desire to educate children about safe and responsible interactions with pets. Through engaging stories and Piper’s everyday adventures, the books encourage children to understand how dogs learn and why proper training and socialization matter. Glen Cove Public Library
